Urban Design Skills, Fall 2023Cambridge, MAIn randomly assigned teams, we were tasked to design a site in Cambridge which holds many existing structures (like MIT’s electricity plant, parking garages, and a freight rail). We proposed removing the freight rail and replacing it with one that could be used by commuters, as well as adding in multi-modal transportation pathways. The following images include one of the sections I made.

This map was included in our final project boards to demonstrate the public and private spaces, and those in between public and private. I created the bottom map in QGIS and Illustrator.

I created the cross sections for our design plan in Illustrator. The top diagram is a zoomed in version of the bottom diagram, but includes more details like the dimensions of paths.
