Urban Design Skills, Fall 2023
Cambridge, MAThis project took place in two parts, and focused on a large plot of land in Cambridge, MA. In the first part, myself and my partner conducted a site analysis and developed a preliminary design plan for the site. In the second part, we were paired with another team in the class based on the cohesion of our ideas. The final project is the result of an intense collaborative effort to strategically balance our different groups’ ideas into one shared design plan, which we called “CambridgePortal.”

After many conversations, I created the 3D model in Rhino, shown to the right, of the design my team agreed on. This 3D model was used by all other team members as the basis for visualizations they created.

I created these cross section drawings in Illustrator using my 3D model as a reference, colored buildings according to use, and added the street names. My teammate added dimensions and the remaining details.

To further illustrate our team’s design principles, we created a few diagrams using the 3D model. I created this illustration in Illustrator, which demonstrated how our design would develop a mixed-use district.

I created this illustration in Illustrator, which demonstrated how we planned to address amenity gaps.
